- Added support for JPG images when loading a reference image.
- Improvement: right clicking the sprite priority buttons now sends selected sprites all the way on priority.
- Fixed a minor issue: deleting sprites generated two undo levels.
- Fixed a minor issue: deleting sprites with the delete key only worked when the mouse cursor was on the screen area.
- Fixed a crash: deleting sprites also tried to delete nametable tiles.

I'd love to try it, but I really only use Linux, and unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working with Wine (or Bottles). Are there any specific Windows libraries that you use? That would help troubleshooting on Linux.
I've been reported that it does work on Wine. As you suspect yes, it could be a dependency issue in your case. Have you tried the installer download?
The installer optionally installs Visual C++ Redistributable. It's the only extra install that it has, so that could be the dependency that you don't have installed.
